*Dear Clients*
I am writing to inform you of my new Practice Policy regarding the dispensing of medications for patients with chronic conditions – and for all types of parasiticides.
The Royal College, along with the Veterinary Medicines Act now stipulate that all veterinary surgeons must have a responsible prescribing policy, in line with new legislation.
This means that for all chronic (and ongoing medications), your pet must be examined every 6 months, weighed and a health check given, to ensure the correct medication dosage still applies.
Parasiticides (endoparasites and ectoparasites; flea and worming treatments) are prescribed only by the Veterinary Surgeon at this practice. As a client, you are entitled to a yearly prescription which will cover your treatment and can include wormers if required, ONLY after the Veterinary Surgeon has examined your pet.
To arrange for a prescription, you may request this at either a vaccination or general consultation. However if this is a new pet, a consultation must be arranged.
